Vaishnaw also shed light on the government\u2019s plans for a new legal framework<\/a> for the telecom sector. \u201cWe are running a modern age technology under a law that was made in 1885. We cannot have a modern regulatory system with such (an old) law. The word telecom does not appear in the Telegraph Act,\u201d he said, stressing the need for a future ready set of laws that are not cumbersome to understand and implement.
<\/div><\/div>The union minister also spoke about the ongoing 5G auction<\/a> which has already seen the four participants \u2013 Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea, and Adani Data Networks (an Adani Group unit) bid for spectrum worth Rs 1.49 lakh crore.
