\u201cThis scheme is a game changer for the nation and the industry - a historic development under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi to advance the \u201cMake in India (MII)\u201d program\u201d, said Mr. Pankaj Mohindroo, Chairman, Indian Cellular and Electronics Association. .
The industry body, which represents handset brands like Apple<\/a>, Xiaomi<\/a>, Oppo, Vivo, Lava, and contract manufacturers like Foxconn and Wistron, said it aims to achieve USD 1 Trillion electronics hardware manufacturing target by 2027-28.
\u201cThis scheme is a game changer for the nation and the industry - a historic development under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi to advance the \u201cMake in India (MII)\u201d program\u201d, said Mr. Pankaj Mohindroo, Chairman, Indian Cellular and Electronics Association. .
The industry body, which represents handset brands like Apple<\/a>, Xiaomi<\/a>, Oppo, Vivo, Lava, and contract manufacturers like Foxconn and Wistron, said it aims to achieve USD 1 Trillion electronics hardware manufacturing target by 2027-28.

\u201cWe hope Dixon is at the forefront to make India a global manufacturing hub,\u201d he added.
Domestic feature phone maker Lava, which enjoys 5th position in the segment globally said that differentiated PLI for Indian companies shows the true commitment of the government towards Atma Nirbhar Bharat.
\u201cIt would enable us to acquire skills and technologies for global competitiveness. It is the right step towards long term financial and technological independence of the country,\u201d Lava Chairman Hari Om Rai said.
China-based smartphone maker Xiaomi applauded the steps announced by the government and said it is certain that schemes that help overcome disabilities of manufacturing electronic components in India, will provide the needed impetus to increase the manufacturing capacity of the country.
\u201cThe newly introduced schemes by the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MietY) are a welcome move and will give India an opportunity to boost local handset production leading to an increase in export-led manufacturing moving forward,\u201d Muralikrishnan B, Chief Operating Officer, Xiaomi India told ET.
Xiaomi said that it currently manufactures 99% of the smartphones locally, with 65 per cent of the value of the smartphone being locally sourced, and in the process have generated over 30,000 jobs.
Wistron said that the scheme is a financial incentive to boost domestic manufacturing and attract large investments in the electronics value chain.

China-based smartphone maker Xiaomi applauded the steps announced by the government and said it is certain that schemes that help overcome disabilities of manufacturing electronic components in India, will provide the needed impetus to increase the manufacturing capacity of the country.

Xiaomi said that it currently manufactures 99% of the smartphones locally, with 65 per cent of the value of the smartphone being locally sourced, and in the process have generated over 30,000 jobs.
Wistron said that the scheme is a financial incentive to boost domestic manufacturing and attract large investments in the electronics value chain.
