Contracts will get relooked, which will take time and till those processes are put in place, hiring targets for Wistron will be delayed,\" said a telecom industry source. \"Wistron was a key player in the handset industry's hiring target of 50,000 by March and now that gets delayed as well,\" he added.
People aware of the development said till processes are put in place, all fresh expansion plans and thus, hiring plans will be stalled. Meanwhile, the staffing firms have been asked to submit their reports at the Bengaluru Labour Commissioner’s office. One staffing firm ET spoke to said it had done so last Friday.
Innovsource<\/a>, Randstad, Quess Corp<\/a> and Adecco are some of the leading staffing firms for Wistron.
\"We are working with Wistron Corp<\/a> to identify the root cause of the problem. We are 100% compliant based on the information that we have received,\" Paul Dupuis, MD and CEO at Randstad India<\/a>, said in an email response to ET.
Wistron has about 8,500 contractual employees and 1,300 permanent employees. The Taiwanese manufacturing facility has been on a hiring spree from 2,000 in the beginning of the year to reports of recruiting another 20,000 over coming years.
Apple's statement on Saturday, which said that it will not give any new contracts to Wistron, have raised questions about how the handset sector will reach its estimates of 50,000 new hires by coming March.

A change of contract cannot be ruled out. A senior executive at a competitor, which had been in talks with Wistron since before the incident, said that it was possible that the company may change a couple of the contractors.
\"Though there are unlikely to be any serious violations, it's possible they may do this to set an example,\" the executive added.
“At the moment, for all of us, it’s important to ensure the plant re-starts. We are supporting our client,\" said a top executive at one of the staffing firms, which works with Wistron.
