NEW DELHI: Homegrown telecom software firm iAcuity Telco said that it is in discussions with private telecom service providers to offer secured connectivity solutions to overcome frauds as telcos roll out fifth generation or 5G networks in the country.

"We are in process of engaging with private operators for our 5G enabled products,"
Ajay Batheja, chief executive, iAcuity Telco told ETTelecom.

The Mumbai-based company currently works with state-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL), and has already partnered with network vendors such as
Ericsson, Nokia and Nortel, as well as system integrators including IBM and Tech Mahindra.

Batheja said that a private 5G network offers an opportunity for the domestic company that deploys iSDConnect, a software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) platform for telco and enterprise networks.

The company, according to him, provides a solution that brings agility and improved performance by decoupling the network from hardware, allowing easy-to-manage remote networks while providing high security and constant monitoring.

Telecom operators particularly
Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel have deployed 5G network in select cities, and are expected to expand nationwide within the next two years.

With the onset of 5G-led technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT), the network security concerns including telecom-related frauds have heightened.

Meanwhile, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) has implemented blockchain or Distributed Ledger Technology to curb pesky or fraudulent calls and messages.
