<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>NEW DELHI: The Department of Telecommunications<\/a> (DoT) secretary K Rajaraman has asked the Maharashtra government to align the state Telecom Infrastructure Policy<\/a> (issued February 12, 2018) with the Indian Telegraph RoW Rules 2016<\/a>.

Following a request from the industry, Rajaraman took up issues related to
Right of Way<\/a> (RoW) with Maharashtra Chief Secretary Debashish Chakrabarty.

Subsequently, DoT LSA Head Maharashtra has written to Principal Secretary (IT) Maharashtra to align the state’s policy with the RoW Rules 2016, and additionally, urged to include the provisions of overhead OFC, to define applicable charges\/fees includes maintaining, working, repairing, transferring or shifting, and other activities along with establishing of the telegraph infrastructure, include provision for the regularization of existing towers installed prior of Maharashtra RoW Policy 2018.

“We appreciate the intervention by the Secretary, DoT, Chief Secretary of Maharashtra, Other State government officials and the Department of Telecommunication (LSA) to resolve the RoW related issues for faster roll-out of Telecom Infrastructure across Maharashtra,” said S P Kochhar, Director General, Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI).

Bharti Airtel<\/a>, Reliance Jio<\/a>, and Vodafone Idea<\/a> (Vi).

“Telecom Industry has been taking up the RoW related issues such as Reduction & Rationalisation of Restoration Charge w.r.t deployment of the underground fibre, Grant the permission to TSPs for doing the Self-Restoration with provision of Performance Bank Guarantee of Nominal value, Withdrawal of the one Time Access Charges being levied in Mumbai, Regularisation of Towers, Single window online Clearance mechanism, etc with the State Government,” the telcos stressed.

The statement though added that DoT and telecom operators are working with the support of Maharashtra government to facilitate telecom infrastructure deployment in the state.
