<\/figure>NEW DELHI: Tower and Infrastructure Providers Association (TAIPA<\/a>) has sought urgent intervention of the Department of Telecommunications<\/a> (DoT<\/a>) for ensuring round the clock telecom connectivity during the curfew and lockdown imposed in states\/UTs across the country. In a letter to telecom secretary Anshu Prakash<\/a>, TAIPA has urged the DoT to direct relevant central ministries\u2019 authorities, LSA\u2019s, and state\/UT governments to extend support to the Telecom Infrastructure Providers (IP-1) during the lockdown\/curfew period.
Reeling under the second intense wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, Maharashtra placed lockdown restrictions in the state on April 15 and tightened the curbs on April 22, effective till May 1, while Delhi will be under lockdown from April 19 to April 26.
<\/div><\/div>The tower body has asked DoT to direct state\/UT chief secretaries in allowing unrestricted movement of field staff, as well as technicians for accessing telecom tower sites<\/a> for routine operation and maintenance, diesel refueling, among others.
TAIPA also wants DoT to direct the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and oil companies to ensure round-the-clock availability of diesel for telecom tower companies, in case an emergency arises.

TAIPA further seeks uninterrupted electricity supply to all telecom tower site operations in each state on a 24x7 basis and on high priority.
TAIPA requested DoT to ensure the safety and security of the telecom field personnel\/technicians and telecom infrastructure in the states\/UTs during the present situation.
Lastly, it wants DoT to ensure no coercive actions should be taken against the field personnel, and demanded de-sealing of telecom tower sites for uninterrupted telecom connectivity.
\u201cAs the telecom services are pivotal for enabling several e-services, online applications, and work from home, etc therefore it becomes utmost important to ensure the continuity of telecom tower operations 24 *7 during curfew and lockdown situations in the country,\u201d said T.R.Dua, Director-General, TAIPA.
