“Today the pre-owned mobile market sees a volume of about 20 million units. However, the larger market is still offline today and the shift towards online is gradually happening,” said
Amarjit Batra<\/a>, CEO, OLX India in an interaction with ET Telecom.

\n“5500 phones are marked sold on OLX every day, a rough estimate suggests that almost 2-3 million used phones are sold through OLX in a year. We’re seeing shifts in the trends, one of which includes Chinese device makers are increasing their share in the used mobiles category. For instance, Xiaomi used to have 4% share earlier on OLX and now it has 12.8% share,” added Batra.

\nThe company in a statement said that the average price of a smartphone listed on its platform is Rs 9000 and the most popular price range among users looking to buy used smartphones is Rs 5000-10000.

\nAccording to a study by OLX-IMRB, 68% of people cited their desire to upgrade as the primary reason behind selling their smartphones.

\nMillenials between the age group of 19-29 constitute 55% of the used mobile sellers and 75% of the used mobile buyers.
