<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>NEW DELHI: Kenyan mobile operator Safaricom<\/a> and telecoms equipment maker Huawei<\/a> Kenya Thursday said they have jointly trialed a new “Scan & Order” digitization solution for restaurants.

This solution, according to the companies, will help restaurants in digitizing their menu and ordering systems to provide better customer service, optimize their menu and pricing strategies, while leveraging the advantages of
Big Data<\/a>.

Furthering its footprint in the digital services space,
Safaricom<\/a> said its mobile money transfer service M-PESA will be integrated with the Scan and Order technology to facilitate easy payments, too.

It will also provide tools to restaurants to help them plan their fresh produce purchases and supply chains.

By enabling real-time feedback mechanisms, merchants, too, can respond to consumers' requirements in the restaurant.

It also enables restaurants to roll out loyalty schemes and build relationships between users and merchants by enabling a bonus point system.

Huawei<\/a>, their R&D team, and everybody behind Huawei for bringing this solution to life. Thank you Pete’s for being the 1st restaurant to have Scan & Order,” said Sitoyo Lopokoiyit, Managing Director of M-PESA Africa and Acting Chief Financial Services Officer.

The trial has been initially launched at Pete’s Cafe.

“Building on this cooperation, Huawei will continue to work with Safaricom to continuously invest in innovation and support Pete’s Cafe’s digital business development. We will create more innovative services and a richer digital life for all Kenyans. Further bringing the digital world to every person, home and organization in Kenya,” commented Meng Wei, CEO of Huawei Kenya.
