<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>NEW DELHI: Nelco<\/a>, a Tata group<\/a> satellite communications<\/a> (satcom) company, has made an undisclosed investment in Software Defined Wide Area Network<\/a> (SD-WAN) OEM Piscis Networks<\/a>, to strengthen its satcom solutions portfolio.

“This investment is an important step for Nelco to expand its service portfolio and elevate its position as an integrated network solution provider. This also reinforces Nelco’s commitment to deliver comprehensive and innovative satellite communication solutions to its customers,” Nelco said in a statement Wednesday.

“It aligns with our vision to deliver comprehensive satellite communication solutions for our existing customers as well as new market segments,” said P J Nath, MD & CEO, Nelco.

Nath added that by leveraging the product portfolio and expertise of Piscis, the company will augment its service offerings and provide its customers with enhanced satcom experiences.

With this investment, Nelco is also seeking to enable its customers to further improve their network performance, reliability, and security.

Nelco is also aiming to enter the lucrative consumer broadband market. “Nelco has ambitions to enter the consumer satellite broadband space in India once the appropriate technology, satellite systems and user terminals are available at the right commercials to deliver the services at affordable rates in the country,” the senior executive told ET in April.

The CEO had told the publication that though Nelco had withdrawn its GMPCS (global mobile personal communications by satellite services) licence application, it would decide on re-applying for the same and\/or any other relevant satellite service licence once the details of the new space policy are known.
