Mathews joined COAI in April 2010, and in eventual, many controversies surrounded the Delhi-based group in which it had come at odds with the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai).

Kochhar, a former top army official, is also a defence analyst and an industry veteran, who is on board of various public and private sector institutions such as IIT Delhi and Bits Pilani.
