Pune: The Vishrantwadi police are investigating a complaint registered by a 32-year-old unemployed man on Sunday, stating that telecallers duped him of Rs27,460 under the pretext of installing a cellphone tower on his plot at Daund near Pune in December last year. Inspector (crime) Vijay Shinde<\/a> said, “The telecallers got in touch with Suyog Adhav<\/a>, a resident of Bhairavnagar<\/a> in Dhanori, and told him that a mobile service provider company planned to install a cellphone tower on his property. They lured him with a deposit Rs15 lakh and monthly rent of Rs12,000.”
He added, “The telecallers instructed Adhav<\/a> to deposit registration fees among other charges of Rs27,460 for finalising the deal, and collected photocopies of his voter ID and Aadhaar<\/a> cards.”
Adhav later realised that he had been cheated as the callers continued to make demands for money.
