According to a report by brokerage firm Bank of America (BofA), if the
MyJio<\/a> app is integrated with Whatsapp<\/a>, as an outcome of partnership with Facebook<\/a>, it could accelerate traction on the Jio app ecosystem.

“Currently we believe that the app does not have a strong value proposition that every customer would use it (apart from recharging for Jio mobile),” BofA said. “Overtime, we expect interface of this app to evolve and make it more customer friendly to facilitate
monetization<\/a> of freemium apps.”

MyJio currently has 13.2 million daily active users, compared to 6.4 million for
Airtel<\/a> Thanks app, 1.1 million for MyVodafone and 0.8 million for MyIdea. It hosts a varied bouquet of services including recharges, games, music, OTT content, e-commerce, payments, vernacular languages contrary to that of its peers.

BofA believes, currently, JioTV, JioCinema & JioSaavn have gained the most traction. JioTV which is free of cost and aggregates content from all OTT players, currently has higher daily active users tha Amazon Prime, Netflix, Zee5, Voot and SonyLive.

Besides, Jio’s ed-tech, health-tech and games offerings have the potential to gain traction “led by network effect and Jio ecosystem advantage (despite high competition).”

JioHealthHub is aiming to catch up on its peers Practo, 1mg and NetMeds by integrating all use-cases in the healthcare space on one platform.

The AI-based edtech platfform Embibe, acquired by Jio in 2018, has not yet scaled up like bigger peers including Byju’s, Unacademy and Vedantu but differentiates from them by using AI more extensively on its platform.

For monetisation, subscription as the primary model since advertising revenues are low in India.

“If any app gains 200 million users overtime, each paying Rs 100\/month then it could lead to an incremental $3.2 billion revenue opportunity,” BofA said.
