\"Government policies and rulemaking are committed to ensure an open, safe and trusted and accountable Internet<\/a> for its users,\" Chandrasekhar said. \"As Internet access continues to rapidly expand in India, new issues related to the above commitments also keep emerging. To deal with such new and emerging issues, as well as to keep pace with the evolving cyber space, the government has proposed to further update the part-II of the IT Rules, 2021.\"
He added that the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Codes) Rules, 2021 or the IT Rules, 2021 were formulated to make intermediaries including social media<\/a> platforms accountable to their users and enhance user safety online<\/a>.
