MUMBAI: Last mile delivery service firm Grab is expanding its service proposition from restaurants and e-commerce to the banking and the telecom segment to provide on-demand authentication services to this sector for home delivery.

Grab has partnered with top telecom operators Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio, to offer customers home delivery and activation of SIM card within minutes. The logistics provider has developed a SaaS platform that allows individuals to place a request on operator’s platform for a SIM card and avail the delivery as per his/her availability. The platform also allows for e-KYC and KYC services to be done as per demand.

“Grab is delighted to capture the banking and telecom segment and generate a better customer experience with every new service. Through this association, we are looking to scale our business in this new territory and enhance the reach of more businesses to their target customers,” said Pratish Sanghvi, Director and Co-founder, Grab.

Grab, which had almost 75% of its revenues coming from ecommerce alone is looking to trim that share down to 55% with about 10-15% of revenues coming from the telecom sector through FY18. The partnerships with Airtel and Jio are the initial steps in that regard. Grab is also in advanced talks with other telecom and wallet companies to provide a similar set of services across both verticals.

Through the SaaS model, Grab provides the customer access to real-time availability data of riders around his/her locality or a future dynamic time slot to choose from. The rider then authenticates himself via a biometric scanner linked to Aadhaar and closes the transaction on Grab’s platform.

Grab’s SIM service is currently available in 10 cities. But the firm has entered into a subscription arrangement that allows
Reliance Jio to use its own riders in other cities but avail Grab’s technology and rider app platform for a fee.

Grab has partnered with top telecom operators Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio, to offer customers home delivery and activation of SIM card within minutes.
["Reliance Jio","industry","Bharti Airtel","Grab","On-demand","e-KYC
telecomnews/grab-partners-airtel-and-reliance-jio-to-offer-doorstep-delivery-of-sim-cards"}}" data-authors="[" supraja srinivasan"]" data-category-name="" data-category_id="" data-date="2017-04-04" data-index="article_1">
