With these job cuts, Wipro joins more than 20 companies doing business in the channel that have cut workers since the start of the year. The layoffs, which are permanent, will start in May.

Wipro has about 20,500 employees located across the United States, Canada and LATAM<\/a> (Mexico and Brazil). Globally, the company has over 250,000 employees and business partners across 66 countries. Earlier this month, Wipro announced the opening of its Americas<\/a> headquarters in East Brunswick, New Jersey. The Americas region makes up nearly 60% of Wipro’s global revenues.

Earlier this year, Wipro laid off more than 400 freshers for poor performance in internal assessment tests.
