NEW DELHI: India\u2019s largest telecom operator by subscribers Bharti Airtel<\/a> has also emerged as the top most admired company in India in the telecom space, followed by Nokia<\/a> and Vodafone<\/a>, according to ET Telecom\u2019s Salary Survey 2017-18Airtel may have posted its first net loss in almost 15 years in the fourth quarter as Jio-led low tariffs, IUC took its toll, but the company is attractive to the telecom employee-base as per the survey which was conducted from November 2017 onwards.
The survey showed 21% of the respondents opting for Airtel as the company they admire the most where Nokia and Vodafone followed with 9% votes each. Network gear maker Ericsson<\/a> and Mukesh Ambani\u2019s Reliance Jio<\/a> made it to fourth and fifth positions with 8% and 6% votes respectively. Idea Cellular<\/a> also received 6% votes, placing itself at the same spot as Jio.
<\/div><\/div>Respondents cited Airtel\u2019s brand presence, leadership and its exploration of latest technologies as some of the reasons for their inclination towards the company. Vodafone was appreciated for its employee-friendly work culture, training to employees and good salary packages. Nokia was preferred for its ability to survive in the odds and good work culture.
Owing to consolidation and intense competition, telecom employees\u2019 expectations are shaping up where people are closely monitoring the trends of the market and basing their decisions on it. The survey found out that better salaries seem to be the biggest reason behind people concluding their present jobs and the working atmosphere within the organisation also holds alot of value with 48% planning to quit due to management style (29%) or some dispute with the manager(12%) or due to redundancy(7%).
Interestingly, in the top 5 most admired companies, two happen to be network providers thereby showing admiration among Indians for gear-makers of the telecom space. Google, Cisco, Indus Towers and Samsung also ended up making to the list of the top 10 most admired companies in order of ranking.
