NEW DELHI: Shares of Bharti Airtel<\/a> were trading flat in Tuesday's trade ahead of its quarterly earnings scheduled for later in the day. The telecom major is expected to report a muted set of quarterly results with sales rising 8-9 per cent on a year-on-year basis and margins coming in flat sequentially. Analysts' projections on profit differ widely in the Rs 300-1,000 crore range.

At 9.50 am, the scrip was trading 0.08 per cent lower at Rs 564.60.

JM Financial expects the telecom operator to report a profit of Rs 1,016.60 crore compared with a loss of Rs 15,933 crore in the year-ago quarter. It sees sales rising 9.4 per cent YoY to Rs 26,702.50 crore. The average revenue per user (ARPU) is seen at Rs 146 compared with Rs 157 in the year-ago quarter, and Rs 145 in March quarter.

\"We built in 20 lakh net subscriber additions, as April-May might have to witness net subscriber losses of 20 lakh due to SIM consolidations, offset by 40 lakh 4G additions in June. ARPU is expected to be muted due to the impact of lower usage and free recharges, partially offset by the lag effect of strong 4G additions,\" it said.

ICICI Direct<\/a> expects Airtel's Ebitda margins for India business at 49 per cent, which would be flattish sequentially. Africa margins are expected to be stable sequentially at 47.5 per cent.

\"Reported consolidated Ebitda is expected at Rs 12,620 crore, up 2.3% QoQ with margins expected at 48.3 per cent, up 40 bps QoQ. For Airtel, we expect net profit of Rs 392 crore,\" it said.

Emkay Global said that while Africa's business performance is expected to be impacted by the weakening of the Naira and other currencies, once again, the permission for the recommencement of new subscriber enrolments in Nigeria should aid subscriber additions.

This brokerage pegs Bharti Airtel's profit at Rs 318.50 crore and Ebitda margin at 47.9 per cent. It sees sales rising 9.1 per cent YoY to Rs 26,128.30 crore.
