Inaugurating a two-day workshop on security issues for senior officers of the department of telecommunications<\/a> (north and east zones) and central and zonal law enforcement agencies, Rajaraman<\/a> said it was important to identify areas where improvement is required.

“CMS\/IMS and a few other projects such as TAFCOP<\/a> are crucial to ensure national security and safety of individuals. It is important to bring out key action points so that further improvement can be made in telecom and cyber security management,” he added.

Director general, telecom, Subash Chand<\/a> emphasised on the importance of security concerns of citizens.

Member (services), DCC, Mahesh Shukla<\/a> said, “As criminals are becoming smarter, tools such as ASTR (AI and Facial Recognition powered Solution for Telecom SIM Subscriber VeRification) are highly beneficial in detection of fraud. Police verification of each and every point of sale should be made mandatory. ”
