<\/figure>About 19 days after plugging all technical glitches following a major cyber attack on the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS<\/a>) servers, the Union government has now come out with a digital procedure concerning all important installations to not just strengthen the safety firewall but to further secure servers with critical data.In the latest proactive action the Centre has asked all its employees across various ministries and public sector units (PSUs) to follow a standard operating protocol (SOP) which involves basic IT hygiene such as switching off computers, signing out of emails, and updating passwords.
As per new guidelines issued by the Centre, the employees are strictly asked to adhere to the new rules or face disciplinary action for ignoring these protocols. As per reports, the AIIMS cyberattack is believed to have been the result of one employee not taking these precautions.
<\/div><\/div>Of late, there has been a surge in such cyberattacks<\/a>. Though Indian authorities were able to prevent attacks on the power grid and banking system, hackers were able to breach the AIIMS system\u2019s cyber security<\/a>. Most of these attacks are traced back to Chinese hackers, who often operate as \u2018sleeper cells\u2019 using the computers of Indian users.
