“Customers flying in and out of Pune can enjoy high-speed Airtel<\/a> 5G Plus across the airport terminal. Passengers can enjoy blazing speeds on their mobile phones while they are at the arrival and departure terminals, lounges, boarding gates, migration and immigration counters, security areas, baggage claim belts, parking area etc,” it said in a press statement.
All customers with 5G smartphones<\/a> will be able to enjoy the high-speed Airtel 5G Plus on their existing data plans. Additionally, Airtel said its existing 4G SIM comes 5G-enabled.
The announcement comes close on the heels of Airtel launching its 5G service at the terminal of the Bengaluru airport recently.
“I am thrilled to announce the beginning of a new chapter in Maharashtra as Pune International Airport, becomes the first airport in the state to have the Airtel 5G Plus services,” said George Mathen, CEO, Maharashtra and Goa, Bharti Airtel.
“While at the terminal, customers can now access superfast access to High Definition video streaming, gaming, multiple chatting, instant uploading of photos and more,” Mathen added.
Airtel 5G Plus service is live in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Siliguri, Nagpur, Varanasi, Panipat and Gurugram. The telco is using a nonstandalone (NSA) 5G network<\/a>, and aims to expand the coverage of its fifth-generation network across India by 2024.
